It is time to create a generation of Empowered Kids! Stress in the form of competitive pressure, concern for safety, performance demands and over-stimulation has become the norm for many young people today. Kids are receiving less education about their bodies and health when they need to be receiving more.

Empowered Kids Yoga is committed to the solution. Through the Empowered Kids in Schools program young people learn to release both physical and mental stress. In the non-competitive setting of a yoga class, kids learn to work and measure their achievements in terms of personal goals. And as they gain tools for self-relaxation and improved concentration, kids are better able to meet the challenges of their day-to-day lives with an “alert tranquility.”

Since 2000 we have offered programming to hundreds of kids (pre-K-12th grade). In 2002 we launched The Teachers’ In-service Program: Yoga 101™: “Integrating Yoga into the Classroom Curriculum” a public school initiative. Empowered Kids Yoga is also being taught in Santa Cruz Public Schools.

Mariam Gates (MEd., Director, Empowered Kids Yoga) has developed a dynamic hands-on workshop in the successful implementation of mind/body practices in the classroom.
